zen and the art of blogging

Well, though my b-day was a couple days ago, my family likes to kill 2 birds at once so we celebrated both Fathers day and my b-day yesterday.

I usually get gifts from my family that are...well...me. Usually my brother gets me cool DVDs, or music, and my sister (who I get along with the best) gets unique things like fun t-shirts (the last one said "Save your drama for the Dali Lama!") But, for whatever reason, both my brother and sister surprised me this time.

The gifts were by no means bad, or something I didn't like, just ....umm...different. My brother got me a kite...yes...a kite. It's cool, it's a neat shape and comes with a nice nylon carrying case, but I have no idea when I'll have the time to go use it. I think it'll be one of these 'Use once a year' type gifts. Then, my sister brings out this huge box, about the size of a large suitcase, and I'm all kinds of puzzled. I open it....and find...a 'massage' type contoured chair cushion. So, yeahhh, again, cool, yet different. It's neat and all. It vibrates or 'kneads' your back and has a setting that heats the cushion too. I know I'll use it, I was just a bit puzzled at both their choices. My parents of course, took the safe give-him-a-shirt route. Lol!!!

However, I did very thoroughly enjoy an amazing dinner. Grilled salmon in a mango chutney type sauce, BBQ beef ribs, Fried sweet n sour chicken wings, California rolls, and for dessert my sister in laws triple layer chocolate cake complete with whipped cream filling! Yuuhhmmay!
