I have noticed  quite a few of my good Mindsay friends have been writing and posting reviews of movies and shows they like. You know who you are!

I have also done a movie review or 2 (The last 1 being Kung Fu Panda) but this time I'm not so much reviewing a movie I love, but simply recommending that everyone either rent, buy, or even watch Baraka in 10 parts on You Tube.

Why all the hype? This movie is probably unlike anything else you have ever seen. Really! There are no actors, no script, there isn't even actual dialog. It is what I have come to describe it as, a travel log around the world. It is a look at our world, and the many beautiful, ugly, fascinating, sad, and unknown cultures and places.

Baraka took 13 months to shoot in 24 countries, and took another 3 yrs. to edit and produce. It also has an amazingly beautiful and unique soundtrack. In fact, the music is really what makes this movie work so well. There are world musical instruments ranging from Scottish Bag Pipes, to  Native American flutes, to Zen Buddhist water chimes, all played together during a few scenes, as well as great songs by one of my favorite bands Dead Can Dance.

I have watched this movie at least 10 times and always wind up understanding and realizing that we are all in this world together and no one should think they are better or worse than another. That may sound like just a poetic statement, but watch this film and hopefully you will see it's very true.

Here is the Spanish trailer, which I thought is the best at showing the diversity of the film.

Peace.
